There has been a lot of talk about Brassard, but no official connection to the Penguins. Brassard is a good player. He consistently produces and steps his game up in the playoffs. He’s solid both offensively and defensively. In contrast, Brassard is 30 and has a year remaining after this on his contract at a $5M cap hit. Now, the Penguins could certainly make that work, but is it the best option? I’m not sure. It seems like a lot of money to commit to someone, especially with Patric Hornqvist’s contract up at the end of the season.
